Volunteer: Weed Control

Being a very natural property, we are constantly working on keeping weeds and excess grass out of high traffic areas such as pathways, the arena, and the round pen. While we work on a longer term solution, such as spraying large areas, we need help keeping these areas cleared. We use herbicides for some areas where smaller weeds are excessive such as pathways and mow to keep things under control. Additionally we hand pull areas in the paddocks where we have toxic weeds come up seasonally. Do have a lot of knowledge about weed control? Share it with us! We appreciate all the help.

Volunteer: La Plata Backyard Adventures Summer Program Guides

If you're looking for something meaningful to do with your spare time, then become a Camp Guide with the Backyard Adventures Summer Program (LPBA).

According to the 2014-15 La Plata County Developmental Assets Survey Report, less than half of our youth feel valued by adults; LPBA needs your help to show that isn't true. We want you to be the positive influence teens need by spending time with them during program activities like painting, equine therapy, mountain biking and more. Encourage the formation of skills and values while building on your existing skills with training on Motivational Interviewing and Suicide Prevention.

Help make a difference in the lives of youth.

Contact Samantha at 970-385-4440 or samantha@lpys.org for information or questions.
