The Durango Cowboy Gathering is SW Colorado's premier celebration of our western heritage and culture.
Established in 1988, the Cowboy Gathering is a 5-day festival that features cowboy music, poetry, educational programs, community outreach, and a cowboy parade.
New for 2024 is the first "Horseback Social." It is is an exciting addition to the 36th Annual Durango Cowboy Gathering.
On Saturday, October 5, historic downtown Durango will be closed to traffic so that hundreds of cowboys, cowgirls, and other horse enthusiasts can ride together before the annual Cowboy Parade at 10:30 AM. It will be a unique and captivating experience for participants, visitors, and the local community.
Main Avenue, from College Drive to 12th Street (6 blocks), will be parade-barricaded and temporarily transformed into a hub of horseback and community social activity. Horses and riders will mingle and connect with each other while engaging with locals and visitors lining the sidewalks (next to, but outside of horse riding area).
